Questions & Answers

Two questions: I am 5’1” and wonder if the medium fender length will work for me? My horse is a little over 15 hands with mutton withers and wondering what length size girth to order? Thank you!
Thank you for your questions!
At 5’1”, the medium fenders may be too long, especially if your jeans inseam is around 29 inches or less. I would generally lean toward the short fenders, but your inseam is more useful than height alone. Could you please let me know your jeans inseam measurement?
For the girth, your horse’s height and mutton withers do not tell us the correct length by themselves. The Quantum Short & Light Western may use either English billets or a Western cinch adapter, depending on the saddle’s configuration. If you send me the link or a photo of the exact saddle you are considering, along with the length of your horse’s current well-fitting girth or cinch, I can help you narrow down the appropriate option.
The DP English girths are available in approximately 20.5”, 24.5”, 29.5”, and 33.5” lengths, but I would not want to recommend one based only on your horse being a little over 15 hands.
Because mutton-withered horses can be more prone to saddle movement, we would also want to confirm the saddle’s balance, panel contact, and girthing position rather than relying on girth tightness alone.
